South Carolina: Kiawah Island Golf Resort

South Carolina’s low country is such a scenic and naturally beautiful region, and Kiawah is no exception: the acres of marshland, palmetto trees, and live oaks draped in Spanish moss are truly a sight to behold! The island’s ultra-wide beach consistently ranks in the top 10 beaches in the US. It’s also a golfer’s paradise, with five championship courses. The best way to see all of this? Cruising the 30 miles of bike paths.

The Sanctuary features three pools, 22 tennis courts, and a luxury spa. If these don’t keep you busy, the nature programs (including dolphin cruises and ocean kayaking) certainly will! And of course, the younger ones will stay preoccupied with Kamp Kiawah.

Charleston, a short 45-minute drive from Kiawah, is a no-brainer to visit before or after Kiawah. Steeped in history and overflowing with top-tier culinary options, the city is a hot travel destination for good reason. From shrimp and grits to she-crab soup to BLTs with fried green tomatoes, you will savor every minute in the Holy City. But we’re warning you now: bring your stretchiest jeans!

 

Utah: Montage Deer Valley

Montage Deer Valley is a fabulous ski-in/ski-out resort that guarantees a good time for the whole family!

Arizona: Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and Enchantment Resort in Sedona

Arizona is a family-friendly domestic destination where you can easily spend a week with the kids. Our picks are Fairmont Scottsdale Princess (25 miles from PHX airport) and Enchantment Resort in Sedona (125 miles from PHX airport).

The former has six pools; six retail stores; four restaurants; two waterslides; and a 9,000 sq. ft. white-sand beach. The latter sits at the base of Boynton Canyon and has more than 100 weekly activities, including hiking and biking, stargazing, photography classes, and various arts and crafts for all ages. Both resorts have kids clubs, unbelievable spas, and prime access to incredible golf.

Did we mention the proximity of the Grand Canyon to both resorts? The iconic landmark is a 2.5-hour drive from Enchantment and a 3.5-hour drive from the Fairmont, so it’s an easy day trip from either property.

 

Florida: Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach 

The upscale Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach is a great domestic option located in South Florida.
